Modernity will be taking part in Masterpiece London 2022, which runs from 30 June – 6 July 2022. We are excited to be taking part in the first Masterpiece fair since 2019, looking forward to being back on the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Masterpiece showcases the finest artwork and design from local and international dealers and galleries. This fair gives collectors the opportunity to purchase the best pieces available on the market from a wide variety of disciplines.
For our fifth participation to the fair, we will present a variety of pieces by the celebrated Scandinavian designers Alvar Aalto, Josef Frank, Carl Malmsten, Tapio Wirkkala, Arne Vodder and Paavo Tynell, among others. We are also proud to be exhibiting contemporary ceramicists Sandra Davolio and Alvina Jakobssen.

Taking the main stage at this years stand will be Uno Åhrén's easy chair designed for the so-called ladies' salon. Originally paired with unique the cabinet titled 'Garden of Eden' and a coffee table, this piece was exhibited in the Swedish Pavilion of the World's Fair in Paris of 1925. This piece marks Åhrén's early years as from 1930, he would work almost exclusively as an architect.
The center of the booth will boast one of Sweden’s most beloved designers, Josef Frank. Alongside an early example of his Flora cabinet will be a remarkable dining table with a stunning Amboyna root and mahogany top, and a rare set of matching chairs.
The booth will be illuminated by Finland's most acclaimed lighting designers, Alvar Aalto and Paavo Tynell. Hanging from above will be Aalto's recognizable model 332, the 'Beehive' in addition to a late example of Tynell's ceiling pendants, in excellent condition. Furthermore, more early pieces by Aalto are to feature such as a rare shelf designed in 1933 and the Paimio chair, all in stunning condition.
